I'm ready to buy a new skimmer and have decided to buy an Octpus skimmer. The 2 models I'm looking at are the DNWB110 or the NWB150. I see that the DNWB models can be used in the sumo or out and the NWB is for in sump. Are there any other advanatges or disadvantages between the two models other than the capacity? I notice that the DNWB carry a higher price, why is this?
Thanks!

A skimmer in the sump is nice in case it overflows you don't make a big mess.

Recirculating skimmers are supposedto be better because they increase the dwell time by recirculating the water inside the skimmer. Hence recirculating. But any skimmer with a good design will be just as effective.

I have the 2009 NWB-150. I love it.

IMO take size over recirc everytime all things being equal. these are designed identicle besides one being recirced and one being larger. the 110's 4" body and pinwheeled OTP-1000 pump really isn't going to be large enough for anything beyond a 40g breeder, perhaps a 55g in a pinch. Some people swear by recirc's but its always been overated to me and especially the premium in price seeing there's not much more in the way of materials to make them over a non recirc model.
