Isn't GFO granular ferric oxide? It's a fine-grained material that's used to lower phosphate levels.

I think you're thinking of GFCI, or ground fault circuit interrupters.

Even with RO/DI, there are still plenty of opportunities for phosphate to make it into a system (feeding is a huge contributor), hence GFO can still prove necessary in some situations.
