LOL

I know this isn't funny to dude, and I would imagine this is most likely Tampa Bay Saltwater's aqua farm, but an underwater heist is funny to me.

What sucks is that whoever stole it wouldn't be able to sell it without selling it over a loooong time as that is a LOT of LR and this hobby isn't quite THAT big.

That's why I say it was probably TBS, because they actually did spend a couple of years getting government (FL) permission to do it. :)

Check this video out: http://www.tampabaysaltwater.com/video/tbsaltwater.wmv

Maybe it was a public aquarium that stole it. :D

actually i believe TBS has a few different "farms" now....one near tampa, & one or 2 in the keys, so if might be richard's

....& yes, they have to go thru alot of red tape to be licensed to use the seafloor for the "farm". the vids & such on richard's site about how they took a barge to the caribbean to have it filled w/ rock & then took it up to the site & placed it are quite interesting

& btw....@ the recommended 1.5 lbs/gal that'd be for a 220,000 gal tank :p

They're probably using VSV dosing, so 1 lb/gal would be fine. :D

Maybe it vanished in the bermuda triangle ;) No one noticed barges of LR being loaded up? It not an easy task to move 300,000 lbs of LR

But if its there for 2 years, possibly unchecked, it may have been one guy and a small boat... but I doubt it. :D

You would think they are watching the LR sales to see who's selling cheap to unload It quickly, JAT Next time some kind of warning device would be a good Idea to protect an Investment from theft, Kinda like a movement detector planted In the rock somehow.

i posted it in TBS's vendor forum & richard (of tampabaysaltwater) is pretty certain that it was never stolen but that it has been buried in the sand. he said that area is notorious for huge sand drifts from passing storms

That makes more sense, but is kinda fishy (no Pun), sounds like a good insurance claim to me.... why put all that rock where there is notorious sand drifts.

That's absolutely ridiculous to lease land that would bury your Investment, Guess that solves that mystery, Wonder If the rock Is any good If you can get to It?

richard said there is more lease space in the keys, but it is more work since the sand drifts, so you have to be more diligent if you want to "farm" there

he has space off tampa & in the keys & said the gulf has less sand drifts, but there is less lease space avail. even said the govt people tell people wanting to lease space to look for more protected area or areas that are less sandy, but they are more scarce to find avail
