I recently came across a 6" Queen Trigger from an establish tank for a price that they charge for a baby Picasso Trigger:p . My question is, will it be a good/bad idea to add him as a first fish in my new 270G FOWLR?

It is a 50/50 chance it will be ok.But for the most part at that size you should be ok.And for a price like that i would jump on it.they are pretty hard to come by latley. You will need to show us a pic when you get her.

Depends on your stocking list, but usually adding a 6" queen trigger as your very first fish means you'll have a hard time adding anything else, ever.

It's about backwards of how you should do it.

Hmmm, wonder why the current owner is getting rid of it?

What kind of fish do you currently have?

The one I have is a bit over 5", about 5.5", it is so small...I don't think there would be a problem. I have had a few differnt ones over the days and I don't think you will with that size. But if you go and have a few months go by before adding anything else, perhaps you could, but again, 6" isn't very big for a queen.

I grew my last queen trigger from 2" to 12' and the only fish she ever bothered were a female crosshatch and a male bluethroat.Something to do with that body style. But i had no aggression from her till she was about 11".And she never bothered any new additions and your tank is bigger then mine.I am with dan you should be fine.

yeah when they are 15" + just like any other trigger that size. Most of them are not mean although you do have the exception as with any fish.Originally posted by saltyguy51

That isn't bad for a captive kept fish. If it is thick and with good color, that is pretty average. If really 6", it would fetch about $100 around here in CA, so for $20 more you're getting a time tested fish....hell tax is about 8 of those 20 in my area.

From the pics, he looks like he needs some good feeding; I'll keep you posted as to what happens...

Its only worth what someone will pay! If it doesnt sell right away make him an offer.

I was thinking the same thing earlier in the thread, and I would pay $120 if it was looking right and I couldn't find one elsewhere.

Tell him $100 and that it looks skinny. Nothing prazipro and pellets can fix.

I already put in an offer and waiting to hear back.....I can get this fish locally without any issues, so that is why I'm not rushing....

I'd jump on it man. Seriously. You don't know what I have went through to get mine. They are incredibly hard to come by nowadays. I finally got if from Diver's Den and paid more than that for mine and it is 5" Brazilian Queen Trigger.

Not as of yet....But it looks like he'll give in eventually:D ....No one has a suitable tank for that kind of fish where he's trying to sell it.....
