I run shorter photoperiod in summer months to save on electricity as our rates are higher from June through September. I am currently running MH's for 5 hours a day and VHO for 1 hour at beginning and end of photoperiod. This is pretty minimal lighting compared to the usual 8 hours of MH I run during the other 8 months, but it keeps a handle on my power bill.

Improved grow going to this from a 10+ hour cycle. I may bump it up to see if my corals have adjusted. The fixture is directly on top of the tank and some corals are a few inches below the water line!

10h actinics and 7h MH
8 hrs actinic, 7 hrs MH for about a year now and having good growth. I used to be on 12-hr photoperiod but I did not notice any difference in growth by switching to 8 hrs.
