I've had them come in but never hold their color. I always suspected they were just bleached out branches that were sent since they had a bright yellow cast to them. Not died as there was no die in the skeleton.

Gresham ... so if a coral (sps) is dyed, and the coral dies, dye should be present on the skeleton?
The reason I ask is because a while ago I was wondering if it is possible for people dye sps colonies to make them look better than they actually do, for marketing purposes -and if it was possible to determine whether or not a colony has been dyed.

Usually it's softies and stuff like turbinaria. Every non softis I have seen and was able to view the skeleton had die marks. Over time it will leach out *if* the animal survives. DPV got some in as box stuffers and Tyler listed them as such complete with a warning on the tank that they are died and color will shift. That is an outstanding stance for a LFS to take and should be commended :) Tyler rocks in that dept.
