getting chaeto to grow?

I recently purchased and have been running a "stevie T" refugium basket for attempted chaeto growth. I also purchased th 5w light for the basket. I put some chaeto around the light and shortly over time it has melted away into nothingness. Anyone else have similar situation success/failures. trying to increase my biological filtration soany help would be great

Never had this problem,, but I do give the chaeto a heck of allot more light... I run a 60w bulb.. in the yellow side of the spectrum.. grows like you wouldn't believe it.

You need to make sure it says 6500k or 6700k or somthing close to it on the bulb, or packaging..
Also, how long are you running the light on the chaeto?
Your best bet would be to turn it on at night while the rest of your lights are off, then turn off in the morning when your lights turn back on..
