how to clean skimmer body? advice please!

my skimmer body is full of algae and coralline and i want to know how i would go about cleaning it. i'm thinking a vinegar bath but i'm not exactly sure what that means :). so any advice will be greatly appreciated!

What kind of skimmer do you have?

Throw some warm water in a bucket, add a gallon of distilled white vinegar & run it for a few hours. Then clean with a bottle brush, rinse & your done.

Might want to pull the pump apart after & clean it out, too.

thanks so much, i've already cleaned the pump. so i guess i have to go get some white vinegar and a bottle brush.

Vinager can be brutal on any rubber gaskets.
