Window screening will block a good amount of light -- it is used to acclimate new corals to high lights, or existing corals to new lights. Would be better off using bird netting (( I believe that is what it is called )). It has bigger openings then screening -- more light, but they are small enough to keep the fish in the tank.

I've tried it & the blockage is definitely noticable.

yes bird netting is what you need ( 1/4" holes) found at Home depo, lowes, home hardware in the gardening section

I use bird netting. Good stuff. Doesn't really block any light that I can notice.
