I started this project about 2 years ago. I have a 90 gallon that I have had to put aside. I really wanted to get into the hobby so the wife allowed me to get a 29 gallon nano in its place. I started this tank on May 2 2009. I started with 8 Lbs of base rock and 40 lbs of live sand. I let that set for about about a week. I then introduced 12 Lbs of cured live-rock. I let that set for about a week and introduced another 12 Lbs of live-rock. The first set is Fiji Pukani live-rock the seconed was just Fiji LR. The tank was going for about 4 weeks and then I got my clean-up crew. I got 10 Nassarius turbo snails, 10 Astraea snails, 2 cleaner shrimp, 2 Emerald crabs and 1 sand sifting star-fish. I put the clean-up crew in and after about 1-2 days I noticed the tank was clean. The clean-up crew works.
After about another week I went to the lfs and I made the mistake of taking my son. I ended up coming home with 2 black clowns. I cant say anything I wanted them too. But they were not cheap (I knew going into this hobby it was not cheap, but I was not looking forward to spending $120 right of the batt for two fish). Oh well when I got home I accumulated them and put them in. After that the tank went from being glass and water to my new TV set (my wife is none to thrilled). After another week my wife decided that she wanted to pick out a fish. So we went back to the lfs and she picked out a 6 lined wrass. We brought him home and put him in to. About a weekago I lost a ballast. I have contacted Oceanic and they where very nice and are sending me a new ballast. I am just waiting on it.
I am also posting some picts of the tank. I personaly thinks it looks awsome.

Looks very nice. I really like the substrate and the live rock you have put in there. Looking forward to seeing more.

Looks nice so far!

[welcome]

Have you checked out our local club yet? www.wamas.org Great group of reefers, and lots of coral swapping. There's a fragfest coming up this Sunday in McClean. http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=30363

Looking good? Are going to have a FOWL tank? Or a reef type tank?

"Looking good? Are going to have a FOWL tank? Or a reef type tank?"

I am going to shoop for a reef setup. But for the things I want the lighting is not powerful enough. I have been looking at "Nanotuners.com" for upgraded lighting. I am currently looking at their HQI setup, but the cost is slowing me down. Hopefully soon I will be able to get the setup and have some inverts and some corals.

Rip the lid off that thing and put a DIY type 150 halide over it if lighting is your concern. Poke around and you can find a few folks that have done it with great results.

Don't let money stand in your way!!!
