Hi, I was thinking of getting the net module at some point. But my tank is on the other side of the house than my wireless modem. Is there anyway to hook it up? Would I have to run a physical wire to the modem? Or is there anyway to do it wirelessly?

If I absolutely had to I guess I could run an ethernet cable in the crawl space to the modem which is about 40-50 feet. Would that work if there is no other way?

Well,

you can use a wireless bridge, such as the ASUS where you plug the ethernet into the wireless bridge/gaming device and it then takes car eof the wireless; you can use an in wall adapter to go through your electrical. Netgear makes a pretty good 100mb one that I use, although it can be a little spendy. The key is that the net module miust connect to whatever you use via it's ethernet cable.

How well does the wireless bridge work?

Do you think the best way is to just run a wire under the house? And if so will the connection be good at that distance (40').

A wireless bridge works fine...it is really a question of how good your signal is to that room.

Obviously, wired is always a more solid connection than wireless, but it is your preference. Cat5 is good for 300+' as a standard, so a 40' run is short and good.

Thanks. I'll think about it a little bit.

The asus seems reasonable from opther users, but here is something of interest.

Newegg.com has recertified (meaning factory repaired) plug in the wall adapters, the fast kind at 85mbs for 35 dollars. Great price and I use this on my rke and works great.

very interesting...so does it use the house wiring as an ethernet cable?

Yes

How does it work? Do you have 1 on each end? Or just on the RKE side plggued into the wall?

1 on each end. you can add others around the house too.

but you still need 1 plugged into your router/switch and one plugged into the RKM. It comes with 2 adapters.

So that price is for the 2 you would need?
