I keep clams in my AP24 with 150W MH lights. They seem to do well. But, again, really watch the temp.

yep. That is great. Is that after the lights have been on for a while? The reason i ask is that I had a lid on my AP24 with PC lights and the temp never got below 84... so now I am lidless.

I love that b/w maxima. I went out over lunch and bought a small derasa (I get to pick it up this evening after work).

I am not sure what it is about clams, but they are my favorite additions to my reef tank...

Yes. definitely keep an eye on it. The hoods, because they are pretty heavy, do a good job of insulating. The problem is that the tank temp can go through the roof without you even knowing (even with just the heat from pumps etc). Not saying yours will do that, but mine sure as heck did. When I added the mh I also added a chiller to make sure I wasn't going to have issues.
