I just found a sizable mantis shrimp trying to grab my snail. Before that, some of my fish start going missing.

How do I trap it?
Is there any recommandable trap to buy and where to buy it?

you can trap with a homemade trap. i think ive seen how to make one in the DIY section.

One easy method that worked for me was club soda believe it or not (I had found that idea on an old thread). If you can determine which rock it's hiding in. Get a liter or 2 of club sodas opened and ready; pull the rock out, hold the rock over a bucket (I used a large pair of tongs to hold it because I'm squeamish that way)--and then douse the rock in club soda. It only took a couple of seconds of doing this when the shrimp jumped out and into the bucket. Then I whisked him off to a friends tank where Chompy the Clown trigger was waiting.
Good luck.

Yeah, apparently the carbonation really gets them moving in a hurry. But I had nightmares of the thing crawling up instead of down (hence the tongs). Luckily I didnt have to worry....lol...

what kind of mantis is it?

It is around 3" plain light brown color. Claws are like saber/real mantis.
I don't know what type but not the kind with hammer like claws.
I saw it trying to grab my star snail during light on period but retreated when I approach. I lost my orchid dotty back after 4-5 years and suspect it was eaten by the shrimp.
