my ph went from 8.2 during the day to 8.05 during the day. What can cause the ph to suddenly drop? My orp has risen since this. No other notice differences in water quality. It has been this low for a week now. I have done nothing different and even tried a water change but that didn't do anything. Ph drops to 7.87 at night lately. I have put brightwell 8.3 buffer in but it doesn't seem to raise it that much and i don't want my alk levels to go to high by over dosing. any thoughts?

Its probably do to more CO2 being in the air. Did you recently turn on the AC, and close the windows?

First, what are you measuring with?

If it's a meter, have you calbrated the probe lately?

I'd do a series of water changes to see if it helps, it can't hurt.

Take a sample outside and see if it goes up. If it does you might have a CO2 build up in your house.

This would be my guess, closed up the house and turned the AC on.

Me? Not worry about it.

That would be my answer as well... however, if you'll sleep better at night, you might try running the air intake for your skimmer to the outside...
