A friend of mine lives in southern Ohio and took this pic for me. Supposedly it is a reef tank surrounded by a swimming pool. He's not an addict like you and I, so he wouldn't pester the people about the details of it. Anybody ever see it??

Quick update from my friend:

Yes, this is in Ohio about 40 miles north of Cincinnati. This was part of a 6 million dollar addition to his house for a total square footage of around 34,000sf. I believe the tank holds 10,000 gallons if my memory is correct. I know he has at least 2 Horn sharks and 2 other species of shark. They introduced all of the fish first because he has life insurance on all of the sharks and his aquarium guy wanted to be sure of their survival. He also has another free-standing saltwater tank in his bowling alley. It is roughly 8 feet wide 2 feet deep and stands around 4 feet tall.

Anyway I installed all twelve of his furnaces and heat-pumps, as well as a 10-ton dehumidification system for the pool room. Who has twelve furnaces in their house?? This house is absolutely incredible and I could go on for hours about the place and the one hundred 50" Pioneer Elite plasma TV's connected to the A/V system. He spent a over a quarter million on just the TV's alone!

It's fine until one of the kids does a cannon ball and splashes chlorinated water into the tank.

That's Mrs. Madoffs new place.

The new G.M. for Government Motors.

Al Gores way of conserving water, by building a roof over his pool to control evaporation. And to show how Earth consious he is, he put a fish tank in it. He wants everyone to conserve energy so he can use it.

Some lobbiest house that got his share of the stimulus package from Obama. He created jobs, There's proof.

Coal mine owners house. Since the government is trying to outlaw oil. Coal has skyrocketed.

Corn farmers house. Since the government is trying to outlaw oil. The price of corn has skyrocketed.

The owner of Teslas(

Don't know how that happened.

As I was saying.

The owner of Tesla(the 100 thousand dollar electric car that nobody can afford) after getting 465 million dollar grant from the government to continue business building 4 cars a year.

I wonder if the temperature of the pool water would cause issues with the tank?? AND... Wonder if Chlorine water could possibly go up over the edge of the fish tank?!?

I have one other pic, but it is blurry. I have asked for more...

One of you Buckeye's should investigate!!

Mr James- only 12 units? I think we've done a few of those around here. Darn rich people who live right next to the ocean and want Ac. Bunch of nuts if you ask me but they pay well and keep me employed so I can't complain much. That tank looks pretty cool. I'd assume it has some sort of plastic base or something. Looks to be built in place. Thanks for sharing and good luck finding details.

Crazy! I want to see the tank filled up and stocked! That would be pretty cool seeing it underwater though.

Routine maintenance has gotta suck on a tank like that unless there is decent access I'm not seeing in those photos. Imagine having to siphon substrate, or scrape algae off glass while laying on those rocks trying to reach.

Might look cool, but if it was me, I'd settle for fake corals and holographic fish. Or something.
