Just wondering if anyone can post pics of tanks that are 3 feet front to back. I think I'd love the 3 foot depth...looking at the Marineland 300 and might get it.

Let me see some aquascaping pics!

That would be width... There are at least a couple deep dimensions build threads on here, nice tanks.

No, he's right :) Depth generally refers to front-back measurement, width to left-right, and height to top-bottom.

This guy in my local club started a 300 gallon a while ago, it's either 31" or 36" deep IIRC.

Oh, just found it. 30" deep. Not quite 3 feet, but almost twice the depth of my tank ;)

Its: Length X width X Height

Not Width X Depth X height

:) At least I have never heard it like that

I've determined that the Marineland 300 is my dream (realistic one) upgrade tank. I have a nice side view of my 65 and I've always thought that I would love a tank that was 3 feet deep. That Marineland 300 is like 5 of my tanks put together but from the sides. I started my pursuit of this dream tank by taking the first necessary step; slowly warming up the wife to the idea!

To the original poster, a 3 foot high tank has to be beautiful but so impractical!

Let me clarify, I'm talking about from the wall to the front of the tank. I call that depth for some reason. Top to bottom I call height. Not really what I wanted to focus on though...

Any pics?

Here (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1229280&perpage=25&highlight=280&pagenumber=1) is a thread with my old tank (48" front to back) and my new one (72" front to back.)

If room space is not the problem, I convince you to go for it.

That is why they call it a 'deep' dimension series because it refers to the 'depth' of field. You are correct in thinking that way though it is confusing with a lot of people as it is natural to think of deep the other way.

Anyway, that tank would be my ideal tank. I just don't have 36" to eat up, but you will love the footprint for aquascaping. Go for it.

Sorry for the derailment... I was just pointing it out since you might get more people if you used the term width since it's most commonly used in the hobby. Anyhow, here are a couple threads that might help.

I love the space to keep the rock off the front, look more natural for me.

I'll be setting up a Marineland 200 Deep Dimension soon. Building the stand now. "Depth" in our hobby is confusing, because it refers to the front to back measurement. Yet when someone asks, how deep is your tank?, they're usually referring to heigth. "Width" should refer to Left to Right measurement, but is also used in a confusing manner...lol. LXWXH is pretty standard. Anyway, to get back to the thread, I'll be posting pictures in a thread I've started, as I go along. For other pictures of a 200DD that's already set up, check out this thread. It's the exact tank I'll be setting up. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1650043
