I have been looking at getting a new tank, i have found a 48x30x19 that i have been thinking about doing a room divider, free standing or something else with for a nice price. I am concerned that 19 inches would be too shallow. any feedback?

19" will be fine, It also allows you to go a little easier on the lighting because it is a shallower tank.

I think that those are some very nice tank dimensions.

Is 19" too shallow for what? It's plenty high to keep anything you'd likely want to put into a 120g aquarium that I can think of.

I have seen 11" tanks before, those are border line too short for display purposes.

19" is a great size!

well thats what i was thinking but on most wide tanks you usually see a 24+ depth. I am planning on lighting with lots of T5 power

I personally prefer a shallower tank. 19" is about at tall as the average 55 gallon.

The shallower tanks are a bit easier to light and get higher PAR on the sandbed if you have sps or clams on the bottom.

If the price is right, go for it. That tank to me looks like an ideal reef.

The real thing would be to put it up higher than most stands will do. I would prefer a stand for that tank to be in the 45" tall range. That would put the tank a bit more on eye-level (and also divide the room a bit more visually effectively)

Most stands IMO are woefully short. I don't like to have to bend over to view my tank.

I have a 120 with 24" height. A 19" tank sounds like it would be a dream to work with! As long as you like the height personally I would go for it.

i got it now i have to get it out of my car :).

Im 6'7" tall so the stand i was planning on doing at least 45 in. how many t5's would you string across?

24" wide? What are your plans for coral?

Anywhere from 6-10 T5's wide would be my starting guess.

I have a 13 inch high tank, 24 inch deep. Also built a very high stand so I don't have to bend over to look at it. My stand was 44 inches high. It's nice because you plenty of room inside for equipment.

I would do a minimum of 6 strips of t5. Because your tank is 30 inches deep, you might do better with 8 lights.

mind sharing a few inches with me?

I'm 5'4!

I wish I had a 19" tall tank, it would make my stool obsolete LOL

if it was possible no i wouldn't. finding clothes is impossible.

FYI car creepers are also good tank dolly's

I guess this means i get to start a build thread now!
