View Full Version : Blonde naso tang vs bubble algea (valonia)??

I've heard of several people adding blonde naso tangs to eat bubble algae (valonia) to keep it under control. Anyone here have any success with any specific fish being very successful at eating bubble algae.

I'm already running a very low nutrient level and have no other algae growing (I only need to wipe the glass once a week or less). Even though there isn't enough nutrients for other types of algea to grow, the bubble algea keeps on growing.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!!

I know this is a fairly old thread with no responses, but this is exactly what I was searching for. Do Nasos really eat Valonia? Im already going to add a Rabbit fish and if Naso Tangs eat it too then I will add them both together. My bio-load is pretty light right now

That is brave, I'm afraid of even popping the ones I remove by hand.
Emerald crabs work like a charm, and are known to eat it.
I've never witnessed any of my naso's eating Valonia.
