these things (whitish discs on stalks) are growing on a blue clove polyp frag we got. at first i thought they were clove polyps that hadnt opened but the polyps dont seem to grow that way. these things have thin white stalks and completely retract into the rock at night. they seem to 'fold' along the creases in the polyp head rather than an overall contraction. any ideas?

Nope, definatly not alveopora.

i have those same polyps in my tank. be careful, they will take over ! They spread fast and easily from one side of the tank to the other.

you'll have random spots starting here and there, and then they will spread spread spread !

They are easy to suck out with a siphon though if you don't want them or can't frag them.

I still don't know what they are though. We just call them the blue polyps. :)

why do you say they arent alveopora? ive already clipped them off the blue star frag and glued them to another rock isolated on the sand bed.
