Cooking live rock to get rid of all the nasties seems like a good idea. But what about if you don't want to spend months (not to mention all the water changes) to do it. Why not just power wash them? or leave them outside for a week or 2? any quick and painless ways to rid your LR of the bad algae?

Put the rock in a bucket and fill it with water. Then add a little bleach, a cup or two...it just depends on how much rock you have. . After 24 hours remove the bright white rock and rinse off, then let it sit in the sun for a day or two. Then add it back to your bucket, fill with water and treat with a chlorine remover, just to be safe. I did this on my last build and the tank has been up for a year now with no ill effects.

I've gone the bleach route as pugbreath has - just make sure you get all the chlorine off. Keep checking your parameters to be for sure before stocking.
