I took a christmas tree rock on trade a few months ago and for the first month or so it would sprout the colorful trees all day long. Now the worms only appear at night when the lights are off. I watched my 6 line wrasse pick at them a few different times but he's been out of the tank for over a month now.

My questions, will they come back during the day?

Where should I place the rock regarding flow and lighting?

Christmass tree worms are symbiotic with the coral they are in. So you need to put the coral in a location where it will grow and be happy. Typically x-mass tree worms are found on species of Porites, so strong light and medium to strong flow are needed to keep it alive. If your corals dies, your worms will too. Hope this helps.
