I thought there reef tank was a little weak, but I loved everything else.

I've never seen a rhino with a curved horn like that. Did they say why it was growing forward?

Not bad pictures. That rhino needs to take the small blue pills apparently.

That polar bear just looks hot, I bet he is sweating down there.

love the Piranah. Looks pretty beefy. I had a bunch and they are actually pretty bring fish...except when feeding of course :).

That makes sense . I guess I expected the WoW factor. But I now do realize that is not the only exhibit at the aquarium. Thanks for the enlightenment .

Pete,

The biggest issue with that exhibit (aside from its narrow footprint) is that it's predominantly a soft coral display - big frilly softies are popular with most of the general public, but SPS reefers may find it a bit blase. Lots of mushrooms, Litophyton and Capnella are just so "Twentieth Century" (grin).

The Toledo Zoo has two decently sized coral propagation systems in the basement, one for softies and one for LPS and SPS stony corals. The Marine Aquarium Society of Michigan recently had a behind-the-scenes tour of the building, and the Toledo Reef Club is visiting later this month. They both make this trip every year. You might want to hook up with one of those clubs next time you visit...

BTW: nice photo of the piranha. That old 1937-era scratched glass can get in the way sometimes - I find that you can sometimes remove those blemishes using Photoshop.
