i have yet to acclimate any of my zoas.. if they do come in a baggy i'll float it for 10-15 mins for temperature acclimation but that's pretty much it.

Light acclimate only.

Isn't a dip part of acclimation?

I Lugol's dip all incoming zoa's. Also do 10min bag acclimation and 20min turkey baster method acclimation.

As well as light acclimation.

Question. If the zoa's are coming from 400w MH, should there be any acclimation under my T5's?

DIP is " PREVENTION "

That it is. But immediately following "acclimation", I "dip".

Technically you're right, but I consider dipping part of the acclimation, since it's done following the floating bag method. If I dipped them days after, then I can see where your coming from.

But anything I get, get's acclimated to the water, dipped in Lugols, and acclimated to the lighting.

I acclimated using the drip method and then dipped my zoa's in revive.

My personal steps on "shipped" Zoa'
1.) Float in tempered fresh water to bring the temp up. This is a easy part for as I do alot of Group purchases here so i have two three boxes of stuff and have to set up a tub of temp water to hold these guys until they are picked up.
2.) Open bag pull frag and place into a bowl of my tank water
3.) add my "prevention" solutions allow to sit for 10 minutes
4.) Dump the water and place them back into more tank water as I have seen nudi's and stars fall off even after shaken them in the solution water weather dead or not I am not willing to take the chance.
5.) Let sit for another 10 minutes
6.) Place in QT 10 gallon system for 1-2 weeks for veiwing

Zoa's I get local and I do not trust i do the same thing to them as well

Zoa's I get from a couple locals I do trust....pop the container and toss them in on the frag rack in my main tank 1.5 minutes, lol

Following these steps for 5 years only thing that i have that bothers me are these tiny white feather duster like things that grow super fast.

get some furan 2 for zoa pox treatment..... I treat on arival as preventive acclimation or whatever you want to call it, but it is good to have for peace of mind even if you don't treat for it on arival.
