I thought I would post this because I have just completed my 75gal prodject, and woul like to hear some of your thoughts on how I did it and if it seems like it is constructed correctly and to hear some of your tips. Well first I added live sand to the bottom of the tank about 80lbs I also used some of the crushed coral from my 55gal about 20lbs, the rest of the crushed coral from my 55 gal i used in my sump. I then filled the tank up with RO water and used Red Sea Coral Pro Salt. Let it sit for about 72 hours. Then added about 50lbs of live rock(i know i need more). I put about 10lbs in my sump along with some about 10oz of Caulerpa and about 2oz of Green Cracillaria. I let it run for another 24hours and then added my fish and corals. Wish I had some pics I built everything and was pretty happy with the outcome.

Well you probably aren't going to be happy, my concern is that you will have a cycle that could easily wipe out your livestock. Just keep a very close eye on it over the next 2-3 weeks and make sure no ammonia is detectable. You probably didn't use enough water, sand and LR out of your 55.

I also would put the rocks in before the sand so in case you have any digging fish they won't shift.
Like Grim said..be prepared for a cycle and ammonia spike..

Any benefit you may have had from adding "seeded" or "live" sand or crushed coral to your tank was pretty much nullified by adding RO watet to your tank adn mixing the salt in there. That's why the posters above me said your tank is going to cycle....just for clarification. Good luck, and keep reading RC!

I agree with everyone else, that you may have a cycle since you added RO water and then the salt. Also, I would probably look at getting the crushed coral out, just leave the sand. I would remove the caulerpa as well and replace with cheato. Caulerpa can go sexual on you and wipe out the tank, not worth the risk IMO. Then as far as your LR, 50# is plenty if you like the look. I have a 75g with about 30-40# and it is fully stocked with SPS and 8 fish.
