Ive had a blue Linkia starfish for about 6 months now and one of its legs has had dead spots on it for most of that time. It dosent really use that leg. Is there anything I can do to help it? Would cutting the dead Leg off possibbly save the rest of it?

My experience is that this condition is pretty much always fatal, and nearly universal in newly captive specimens. :-(

Just read this reply by Koshmar In another thread if anyone has the same problem.

"If it is a localized infection, say on one arm, you can take a clean razor blade, cut off the arm and apply lugol's iodine to the wound. The iodine will hault infection most of the time. Just a drop or two, obviously out of water. The wound should ceal up and the star will make a recovery most likely. If it is not a localized infection, the chances of survival are very bleek."
