Is is just me or all the lighting manufacturers producing DE MH fixtures instead of SE?

I am looking for a complete hood (with mounting legs) that is 48" and has SE 250 MH with T5 supplementation.

99% have DE! Uggghhh... Don't they know there are SE lovers still?

If someone could point me towards such a fixture, I would be most grateful!

Selling isn't allowed in the discussion forums. Thanks!

Hamilton still has some. I bought mine back around 1999, and still working great.

They have a new one that comes with 4*54 T5 for supplemental.

EDIT, it is the 2nd one down, but I noticed that it doesn't come with legs.

Thanks Todd.
Good 'ole Hamilton. I used to have a dual MH of theirs years ago. Other than a replaced capacitor in the magnetic ballast, it ran great for years.... and still is for the guy I sold it to.
I did set it right on top of the 90 gal I had then with no issues.
I suppose I could do the same on my 120 gal but I was hoping to get one with legs...

The one over my 58 (( 2*250 + 2*96 PC )) sits right on top of my tank and I don't have any temp issues. It was originally 2*175, but I upgraded to a Galaxy 2*250 ballast.

I love it, and have no intentions of ever getting rid of it. And it looks pretty good sitting right on top of the tank -- my stand, tank rim, and light are all black.

Is the Galaxy ballast electronic?
Do you use the acrylic shield? I remember I removed mine after a few months.

Yes, the Galaxy is electronic and it used the same plug type as my Hamilton fixture, so I didn't have to do any rewiring --- which is a good thing.

And I still am using the acrylic shield, don't have to worry about splashing. I clean it about every month or so.

Good to know. Thanks.
I have bookmarked that site! It's the only fixture I have found with SE, T5's, and moonlights. Very good price too.

If you don't mind me asking, why not just go with a DE fixture? Is it just a preference or do you think SE are better for some reason or another?

I think Reef Speciality was coming out with one using the Lumen Brights.

I have used both DE and SE....I personally like SE better because of the spread, DE to me seems very focus, e.g. bright under the bulb but that's about it.
Glad someone posted this cause I have been thinking about it myself for a long time

IMO the two best bulbs on the market are SE, the Radium 20K and the Aquaconnect 14k. That's the reason I went SE on my new setup.
