I just fragged my huge yellow scroll coral... i am going to sell the larger main piece and I kept a small frag for my tank...my question is how/what direction to mount it...vertically? horizontally? flat...upright? polyps facing the light? not facing the light?? Can you tell I am a little confused on how to mount this coral?

pics of scroll corals in a tank would help me as well as any advice...

can't anyone show me how they have their scroll coral mounted in their tank?

Polyps facing the light.

I would agree with polyps facing the light although the coral in good health will deal with it either way.

I would glue it flat Jenn, with as much surface as possible glued down. this will give it a good solid base to build on and will start growing out much faster.

if you glue it standing upright or on end, it will want to build the base before ti will start growing out

How huge is it?? :)

My scroll coral is simply placed (not glued down) anywhere in the tank that I can have it at a 35 degree angle so it self cleans. Having it dead flat, detritus and what not tends to collect in the bowl of it.

Mine is 8 to 9 inches across and I've fragged endless frags off of it in the 13 or so years I've had it. If I hadn't fragged, it probably would be 14 inches around by now. It looks like an artsy bowl shaped piece of pottery.

I have mine polyps facing light and I did attach the base part of the coral, the place where it was broken off, onto the rock. I have seen that the growth is pretty slow and i would think if I had of placed the coral with more of the flat area of the coral onto the rock the growth would have been better. Ohwell, i like the placement of the coral in my tank :P
