Anyone ever accidentally touch a bristle worm?

i've touched them and they never sting me? do they all sting or just some?

I've touched them without incident. I think the red ones (aka fire worms) are the really nasty ones. I've picked up a few rocks to find one of those underneath, but never got stuck.

Mine stick me all the time. They feel like getting fiberglass stuck in yur finger. Ouch!

Yeah, I run into them from time to time. They don't hurt right away but after a while it feels very much like when you get one of those tiny little cactus hairs stuck in your finger....the ones you can't see to get out.

ive found a few fixes...

hold the area in warm vinegar for a few minutes

take a razor and shave off all the spines right at your skin, then push down all over the area.(let your body kill them) i use that one mainly at work when theres no vinegar.

also put some super glue on the area, later in the day when you peel the glue off the bristles are gone(also use at work)

That superglue trick sounds like a good trick, I wonder if duct tape would take out the bristles also?

I think you develop sensitivity towards there venum each time you encounter them. I spent hours rearranging my rockwork with bare hands, but lately, I try grabbing the rock, my hand swells up and feels like fiberglass is on the skin. I use gloves now when ever I'm in the tank.
