Just wanted to share a few pics of my new addition and also thank everyone here for thier help with my sometimes dumb questions:cool:
I havent been able to help others out as much as others have helped me but I assume that will come with time.
Anyhow my tank just hit a year old this month and I am happy because it has been healthy, and steadily healthy for probably 6 months now. I have an abundence of pods running around, no algae of any type (knock on wood), everything looks healthy and my Zoos and Palys are growing like mad. I dont dose anything, I have a simple 55 gallon system with a HOB skimmer, 1 K-3 powerhead, a 350 GPH HOB carbon filter, and 1 heater.
When I first set it up I checked my params faithfully every few days. I've gotten to the point where I check them every few weeks and they hardly ever fluctuate. The only thing I may add is purple up to keep the Calcium around 440-460, but that is only about once every 2 weeks.

All in all its been a success, Ive had a few casulaties (like when I bought a green serpent star and he ate both of my cleaner shrimp..., you know, learning curves):rollface:

To celebrate I bought a BTA. It will be my first. I brought him/her home yesterday, put it in the little overhang where the clowns hang out and he opened right up. The clowns are a little misplaced by the new "furniture" in thier lair ;) , but they've accepted it and dont nip at it, they just go around it instead. I figure they will eventually host the BTA and as long as they are not picking on it, they can take as long as they want. It has some growing to do anyhow, the clowns are a little big for it it seems.
Speaking of growing, I fed him a half a piece of thawed scallop this morning and he gulped it right down. He seems to be happy where it is so far, it gets a nice flow of current and he has only moved about an inch so far from where I intially placed it. From what I've read, a stationary BTA is a happy one, it likes where it is.
I am babbling now so here are a few pics of the new guy/gal. My camera skills suck so thats as good as I can get. I will se if my wife will snap a few shot for me sometime, she has a Rebel XTI.
Enjoy;

Nice job! Cool new anem. And the gorgonian is very attractive.
How long have you had the gorgonian, and do you feed your tank zooplankton?

Thanks. I just got the gorgonian about a month ago. I feed it regularly with cylopese and reef plankton. So far I've been feeding it when the opportuninty rises, when its out, I feed it, whether it be at night or daytime.

The only problem I forsee with it is my T5 lighting. It has built up red cyano on it once already, and started to collect bubbles. I had to brush it off with a soft toothbrush. Hopefully it wont be too much for it if I only have to do that only once a month.

Cover your powerhead! Nems wander, especially new ones. I used gutterguard and cable ties to build a cage around it.

No offense, but I'm more impressed with your gorgonian. lol. keep an eye on those star polyps, they'll take over before you know it. I'm sure the nem will have no problem keeping them back, but the gorgonian might have a harder time.

Good luck with the anemone. Love the Gorgonian
