I recently got some mangrove, have them in my refuge (in sump).

Are you able to have light on mangroves 24/7??

Reason for asking is because my ph is a little on the low side, between 7.8 to 8 when the lights first turn on..
It seems before I got the mangroves ( I lite my fudge 24/7 ) my PH was always dead on at 8.2
My Water readings using API test kits:

ph 7.8 to 8.2 when lights turn on
salinty 1.025
nitrates 5
nitrIte 0
ammonia 0
KH 9
Calcium 440

Any help or advice is great!

Thanks everyone.

My lights are on my sump 24/7 and I have 4- 12-16" tall mangroves w/leaves(they were 5-6" 6 months ago). I use the PC shop lights from Home Depot. They seem to work fine.

Are they sprouting leaves or roots? I started w/ 10 and 6/10 did not survive. They stayed green and 2 even had roots coming out but did not sprout any foliage.

Mine are already established i got them from someone else they are between 10-17 inches tall. I have about 15 of them right now and are rooted to some rocks....

Should i light my fudge 24/7?

i would check your magnesium levels, both gooyferret and imperialreefs. both for growth and potentially a connection to maintaining pH levels. and mine mangroves are essentially lit 24/7 with no ill effects. spraying them with fresh water several times a week will also drastically assist their growth.

Mine are growing and doing great in freshwater in a vase on my kitchen countertop.
