new reef octopus bh 100ss

I just purchased a reef octopus bh 100ss hob protein skimmer. It has the new otp 1000 pump. It has been running for almost 4 days now. I am still not getting any any skimmate. It only skims very wet right after I feed my fish and then stops skimming. Also I thought the needle wheel pump on it would produce more bubbles. The skimmer is on a very stocked 55 gallon fowlr aquarium. How long does it normally take for this skimmer to break-in? Are these new pumps no good?

You could try Premium Aquatics and they is a Octo HOB club, I would give a skimmer about 2 weeks just to get better and about a month to dial it in. PS is this the small skimmer? If it is I have a older generation. Do you have the elbow where the exhaust is or do you have a tube that siphon's?

sames here my pump isnt creating a vortex of bubbles to the collection chamber is comes out more of an air pump/air stone

I never got my Bh 2000 to skim after six weeks on a 100 gallon, I sold it last nite, never produced anything BIG disappointment for me.
