i think my tank is cycled, couple weeks ago, i did water testing, there were Ammonia, nitriate, nitrate, phosphate, everything were alot. I did the same test the other day, everything was zero, except nitrate about 20 and phosphate about 0.5, so what is the algae bloom that is suppose to happen? is it the brown algae that seems to be appearing everywhere? will it go away or go i have to something about it? dont want my white sand and rocks being all brown, i've kept the light off because i dont want the brown stuff to take over the tank. thanks for any help.

itll go away than you can get a nice clean up crew. you could probably get it now. no fish or nice inverts though except maybe a chromis if you want

Some of it will go away on its own, but with a phosphate reading of 0.5 (( which is high for phosphates )), you most likely will have ongoing algae issues unless you get them under control. What type of water are you using? RO/DI or tap? If it is RO/DI what is the TDS reading of the water?

so the brown stuff is good for now? once it goes away, i can add fish? CUC will help clean the brown stuff?

RO/DI, dont have TDS meter, so not sure. but phosphate has gone down alot since I added phosGaurd, in about 3 days, it went from 1+ to 0.5, so hopefully when i have a chance to test again, it will be 0.

The algae is a natural part of the process. The rockwork will leach some phosphates for a while causing algea growth. As posted above, get a clean up crew, hermits and snails and let them go to town. THe more time you give your tank between additions the more stable it will become. Keep doing water changes. Wait a month after adding the clean up crew. Then when you consider a first fish look at algea eating fish like a lawnmower blenny, Kole tang etc... Read read read before you purchase fish. Remember the LFS is usually "may" only interested in selling stuff and not the overall success of your tank.
