I just moved down to Southwest Florida and am re-starting my 72watt modded 14 gal biocube..

I hear the water down here is HIGH Phosphates, and HIGH Chlorine. What type of RO/DI would be good for me? I am a total noob when it comes to these machines.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thx!

The best unit you can afford, with as many stages as you can afford. Might be a better question for the equipment forum.

Ah, I figured I would ask people I can trust 100%.

Since I am only working with a 14 gallon tank would this 25 GPD unit be good? That's about 1 GAL an hour, not bad if your only changing out 3 gallons each WC.

Let me know what you guys think.

Never mind. May as well go with the 90 GPD unit. FREE shipping out $175.

I've been using the 75 GPD unit from Air, Water, & Ice for the past seven months, and have had no problems to speak of. It even came with a TDS meter included with the package.

90 GPD systems have a lower rejection rate than 75 GPD. Not sure if the 50 GPD are even better for rejection rate. You can always change the membrane & restrictor but if you're looking for better rejection rate, may as well go for 75 GPD right at the outset. This will also save on your DI stage if you are going with one of those, which most hobbyists do.

Might be an idea to get a TDS reading of your source water. That will allow you to make a better decision as to how many stages are cost effective in your situation. High Chlorine & Phosphates is only part of the equation. A good carbon stage will take care of the Chlorine and the RO membrane should deal with the Phosphates and other dissolved solids.

Thanks for the help guys.. I will pick up a TDS meter to check my source water. Any recommendations? I see a mini one on marine depot for $30

I own a Spectrapure RO/DI unit. They are excellent units and tech support is the best.

However, a friend of mine bought a unit from Bulk Reef. Their units are inexpensive and I have heard lot's of great things about their quality. And since their prices are awesome, sounds like something you may want to research.
