I understand that nitrate should be at zero, but am having difficulty lowering below 20ppm for now (have just installed remote deep sand bed). Just wanted to know if anyone has had hermit crabs or any snail species that is able to remain healthy in the 20-30ppm nitrate range. If so, please give species name. Thanks!

i'd be surprised if any weren't able to stay healthy in that range. you'll be okay.

Hermits and snails are fine as long as you don't have nitrites or ammonia.
