Hi,

I have a fairy wrasse that has developed swimming issues as shown in this video. right now its in QT and being treated with Prazi and Nitrofuricin Green. It eats like a champ but has trouble swimming. Anyone ever encounter something like this? Your input is appreciated.

Thanks.

He does seem to be having some equilibrium problems.

I can't tell in the video, but does he look bloated in the least?

I personally have never had a marine fish get bladder-bloat, but I have had some freshwater fish get horrid digestive gas trouble (esp. plecos and tiger barbs, for whatever reason)--- they bloat up and get trapped upside down.

Your wrasse isn't acting quite like that--- these fish I had were acting as if gravity were running opposite it's normal schedule and they were trapped at the top due to their buoyancy.

Your fish almost seems like it's having osmotic shock, just like fish act when they are dumped in freshwater baths.

Beats me, but I'd at least remove the big powerheads from the QT tank--- he's getting tossed around pretty badly---- all he needs really is an airstone or a very small powerhead at the surface (Maxijet 400 or something) to agitate the surface for oxygen/CO2 exchange.

Grab him get a syringe and poke a tiny hole in his swim bladder..

I've read that before, I'm sure it works. I'd like to see someone try that with a volitans lion!
