these spots showed up recently on my sailfin's tail, she's been in the tank for just over a week. the second picture is the best i'm going to get. when they first showed up a couple of days ago, i thought it was tail rot and cursed myself for being a couple weeks late on a water change. i completed a 20% water change last night. she eats fine and poops A LOT. i mean, it's like a sh*t storm when she lets it rip. her behavior is very normal, no scratching on rocks or weird swimming patterns. there doesn't appear to be anything else off about her except these spots.

here are my water params (understand this is less than a day after a 20% water change):

SG: 1.025
PH: 8.1 (milwaukee monitor)
Ammonia: 0ppm (API)
Temp: 80*
PO4: 0ppm (salifert)
KH: 9.0 (elos)
NO3: 0ppm (salifert)
Ca: 450ppm (elos)
Magnesium: 1300ppm (elos)

Other fish in the tank are a mated pair of ocellaris clowns and a lawnmower blenny, none of whom have any visible issues.

anyway, is this tail rot that should be cleared up with a water change? if not, does anyone know what this is/how to treat it?

Lymphocytus...it is 100% curable and will go away with good nutrition and water changes.

Nothing like a "no big deal" from the Snorv to set the mind at ease.

sorry to resurrect this thread, but just as you gurus stated - i saw improvement the next day following the water change and a few days after that it was completely gone. she looks perfect now, thanks!

I agree that Lymphocytus poses no real threat to the fish.

From what I understand I thought that lymphocytus was viral and has the potential to show symptoms again if the fish is seriosly agitated in some way even after not showing symptoms for long periods of time.
