View Full Version : good or bad water readings?

I was hopeing someone could tell me if my water readings are good or bad. I don't know my ph i don't have a ph reader, oicking one up tomarrow.

NO2 0
NO3 0
KH 161.1 or dkh 9
Phosphate 0.5
Calcium 610
Salinity 29
SG 1.022
Water Temp. 78.5

Your calcium is extremely high; it should be 400-450 or so. SG is a bit low, with around 1.025 a good standard. Zero detectable phosphate is ideal.

Did you test these levels or did your LFS? What kinds of test kits were used, and how old are the test kits, if you know?

+1 on ur cal and phosphate is a bit high too. they say max should be 0.1 my phosphaate was off the charts at 5.0 lol

I would say that is a bad test on the calcium. If it were truly 610, his tank would be white with precipitation. DKH is only 9, if he was in ballance, he would be right around 400 ca.

i tested them and idk how old the test kit is i bought it from petsmart a couple of months ago when i started my reef tank.
I will be doing a 10% water change tomarrow. Anything special i should do for it?

Are you dosing anything diablo? If so stop, do a water change, and then let it fall on it's own. I suspect there might be an issue with the test kit but a water change isn't going to hurt.

Just Purple up Iodide strontium and molybdenum thats the only ones. Thats only once a week.

Can you measure the effects of dosing these? If not, I recommend NOT dosing them. Let things happen more naturally; water changes will keep your iodine, strontium and molybdenum at proper levels.
