View Full Version : Solana drillable?

So after only a few months, I am not liking the AIO anymore. There just isn't enough room in the back of the solana and the I can't clean coraline off the back wall!

Is the Solana tempered? I have a feeling it may be since the glass is quite thin for a rimless.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

I know what you mean. I wish I would have gone with a drilled tank and sump.

I would try emailing Current USA. They've answered my emails in a day or two. Hth

Thanks. I will email them.

I am having second thoughts though. It worries me to drill a tank that is full! I can empty out the back compartment and then drill it, drain the tank 3/4 and try to cut out the back wall after but its risky. I have drilled tanks but always empty.

I just hate dealing with the false wall!

I wouldn't do it. I would seriously consider moving to another tank if you are having doubts about the Solana. You'll hurt the resale value when you decide to sell it and move to the Solana XL, 24x24x24, bottom sump, nice upgrade. :)

Oh I won't be upgrading to anything. I just downsized from a 275G system to the nano and am very happy. Im not interested in spending too much more money in this hobby until I decide to go REALLY big in a few years.

But Im probably not going to bother drilling it anyways. Not worth the risk!

Oh, also send me in a pm your real name too, forgot about that one. About the subject though, I thought of drilling the solana, but decided against it because I was way to nervous of messing something up. I agree with you, that I don't think it's worth the risk.
