Does anyone know any good links on RC for a DIY external glass overflow box on a stock glass aquarium? I have a basic plan in mind but I just want to be sure I am on the right track.

about the simplest thing you can build...what size tank and how big an overflow you looking at doing? i built one for my 20H....back piece was 14x12 i think and the sides were appropriate lengths and 5" wide....i pre drilled for 3 1" bulkheads before assembling that way if i broke the pane i could try again...i used 1/4" glass..

It is for a 120g peninsula build. The low profile internal box is being fabricated by a fellow RCer out of black acrylic and has dimensions of 12"L x 6"H x 1.5"D. I will be drilling either 2 or 3 60mm holes for pass through to a DIY external glass box. I have 3x1.5" bulkheads to utilize beananimals overflow model.

I'm curious about the details of your design, since you mention an internal box AND an external box? With holes between them? That's not following convention for external boxes, which is to cut a weir in the side of the tank instead of using holes and an internal box.

Can you provide a mock up?
