I posted this in the DIY section as well. But I figured maybe someone local could point me in the right direction.

I'm about to pull my hair out. Here's the story. I got a glass-holes overflow. It has a 1 1/2" street elbow on it. I'm having a hard time finding a solution to plumb it. I'm trying not to use PVC because I want a solution that isn't "set in stone". But the longer this takes, the more I'm leaning towards getting PVC. I was able to find a 1 1/2" x 1 1/4" solution that will fit 1 1/4" ID Spaflex inside of it. The guy at HD didn't seem too convinced that putting it inside of the PVC fitting would hold that well. It fits pretty well. But if I did go that route, who would I "glue" the spaflex in there? He had suggested silicone, but I don't think that adheres well to plastic. He had also said that pvc cement would eat away at the spaflex. How are people gluing spaflex?

I was also able to find a couple of adapts that fit that would allow me to use 1 1/2" pvc. 1 1/4" spaflex obviously doesn't fit inside...the guy told me that the 1 1/2" won't either(didn't get a chance to test it). PVC pipe did fit though. Just don't know if I should go that route.....confused. Help?

Use Kristy's Red Hot to glue it, I'm not sure where to get it from local, used to be able to through Rampart Supply in th eSprings a couple years back.

Milhouse,

You can use Fernco fittings to adapt from one type of material to another, or if you don't want to glue your fittings together. Ferncos have two hose clamps that you use to make water tight connections.

You can buy them at home depot or lowes. I find them invaluable since they can take the place of a glue in place union, and they are relatively cheap to boot.

Good luck.

I actually have the glue already. They sell it at Lowes. HD might have it too. So that glue will indeed work on spaflex? I found a thread where other people were saying that they used it with no problems. The only problem I'm running in to so far is that I'd have to use 1 1/4" spaflex instead of the 1 1/2" that glass-holes recommends. I really can't find any solution that will fit inside the 1 1/2" elbow but still allow 1 1/2" spaflex to fit around it(or even inside of it). It's kinda frustrating trying to find all of these parts.
