View Full Version : eheim pump leaking

I have an eheim 1260 that I ran in sump for a few years. I have just moved it to run externally and it has a slow leak around the locking washer (I am pretty sure). I have tried re-seating the o-ring with olive oil and even tried placing some teflon tape around the washer before seating it. This seems to slow the leak, but it still drips slowly. It has been running about 2-3 days externally.

Has anyone had similar experiences? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

I was planning on purchasing another eheim to run with it, but now I am having second thoughts. I love the pumps but if it leaks then it's not worth the extra money it costs.

I would reseat the o-ring again, use silicone grease(Lowes,HD) this time.

I reset it with the silicon grease about an hour ago. Seems better. Should know for sure in the morning.

Thanks.
