He has adapted very well in Megan's Elos. He is out in the open almost all the time. The little guy is one of the most inquisitive fish that I have ever had. If I sit at the edge of the tank and watch him, he will swim directly to my face. I wonder what or if he is thinking. To watch his eyes and "face" I almost feel as though he is wondering what I am thinking as well. ;)

They are amazing fish aren't they?

Was this tank setup specifically for this fish? What other fish do you plan to add?
Can we see a few pictures?

Sorry for all the questions :)

Nice specimen, those colors really pop! It's too bad that clownfish don't come in that color combination ;) :)

I planned on moving my clowns there, and still may eventually. It does have corals, clams, and some harlequin shrimp (a rescue), but hes the only fish thus far.

Im superstitious about pictures, it'll be a little before I tempt fate like that.

Gourgeous fish! I'd love to set up a biotope for deepwater fish from the atlantic. I even know someone that would dare dive deep enough but unfourtunatly he's not the best when it comes to catching fish.

I will be posting a few videos later this evening. This fish has become more bold than the clownfish that is in the tank. He will cruise the front of the tank, and when someone enters the room, he dashes to where they are. He already recognizes a white styro cup in a humans hand, as food. :)

Up until today we were only feeding him frozen foods (mysis, brine, frill, squid, etc.). Well earlier I threw a few New Life Spectrum Thera-A small pellets in the tank. He attacked them. So I then added some large Ocean Nutrition Hebivore Formula Flakes in the tank. He went crazy, zipping through the water engulfing any flake in his path. Some of the flakes he ate were almost as long as he is. :)

I am so amused by this fish!

Let me just say it again, wow what a gourgeous fish! The color combination on them is just stunning, andyour little guy looks quite inquisitive. My madnarin used to be like that until she figured out that unless I have a red dixie cup I'm not feeding her.

I recently kicked out one of mines tank mates(a nervous small kole tang), added a trio of helfrichi's and he is now more bold than ever. Although not quite as socialable as yours, yet. Great pics, it really captures the colors of these beauties. I've had mine for a few months now and i'm still blown away.

rhoptowit- you should. This was the best 900 dollars that I have spent in a long time. No other fish comes close to the color of this species.

Megan and I were working in the tank today, and I was very surprised when I saw how the little guy acted. I figured that he would hide in the cave during the entire ordeal, but that was not the case. He was out and about, and wold even swim right up to my hand, and open his mouth, almost as if to say "get out". :)

This is very amazing considering how cryptic these little fish typically are!

Is it safe to add a carmabi together with a rubre? Also, what's the experience on aggressiveness when it comes to adding more than one per tank?

Thanks everyone.

The little guy is doing amazingly well. He has been in Megan's (my girlfriend) tank for a few weeks now, and is very comfortable in his home. He will even eat from my hand now. I have always tried to get every fish I have to eat from my hand, and I thought this one would be a challenge, but I was wrong. I will try to get a video of him.
