Dual Stage Temperatue Gauge vs Controller

I'm just curious how many people use their controller as their temperature control device. I've got an APEX on the way and I'm still up in the air if I want to use it as my controller. I've never had a problem with my Ranco Dual stage. Some people say that if your controller goes down..then you can still rely on your dual stage controller (essentially don't put all your eggs into one basket).

Any thoughts? I wouldn't mind selling my dual stage to recoup some of the money I spent on my controller.

Either one will work fine.

I use a ranco dual stage on my 225 and the dc8 with my ACII on my 180.
