hi all, well for the last few months my skimmer has been acting funny,it will only make clear water and lots of it . i have cleaned it and checked all water params(see bottom). i have had this system up and running for years so i know that the skimmer is working properly and is clean. and NO i did not add something new like stress coat:) NOTHING in the system has changed in about 18 months. any ideas would be very helpful,,,thanks guys:)

did u try turning your skimmer down

well what type of skimmer is it?
if you want to test it
put some aquamend in the tank it sends my skimmers into warpspeed

You are simply skimming too wet. The instructions should tell you how to dial it down. Usually less air flow from the external air pump.

It takes some tweaking but you'll get it. :)

its an aqua c urchin,,evan at its driest setting it still makes water,,it has never done this in the past,,i tried an old airstone skimmer on the tank with the same result so i am convinced that it is a chemical problem. any ideas?

The outtake got stuck or pressure? clean it once more and try to skim in a bucket with new water and again with tank water (still in a bucket) if it shows huge difference in skimmate.

I had a problem once with an Urchin being too oversized for my needs. At its lowest setting, it was too much.

Just a thought. :)
