Guys,

I have a JBJ 28 Gallon Nano with a 150w HQI MH bulb and it has been running 8hrs each day for about 1.5 yrs. Any thoughts to when it should be swapped out? Where is a good place to get this bulb too?

I think your ready for a new bulb now!!!! MH bulbs are only at their best for 10-12 months IMO.

www.marinedepot.com has the 14K Phoenix bulbs on sale right now. Great choice if your looking for the same kelvin rated bulb w/ better growth!

REPLACE IT!!! If you still have the stock bulb, your tank will look totally different once you replace it with anything because that JBJ bulb is crap. I switched mine out for a 15k XM when I had that tank and it made a dramatic difference in both color and growth. Pheonix bulbs are great too. I would go that route.

Replace it but be carefull not to bleach your corals. It is way past the usefull life.

ok I will do that. So I have heard you guys mention the Phoenix bulb. Any better ones? I don't have any SPS in my tank at the moment, just some softies and a plate coral. What would be the best bulb to get if it were you?

IMO/IME My favorite bulb is the 150w Radium 20K. Awesome bulb! But will cost almost double what the phoenix will cost you.

If you got the extra $$$ go with the Radium 20K :D

+1 for the radium. I'm running a pair of them over my 40g and will never go back to phoenix lamps.
