This is my first attempt at a saltwater tank. I have had fresh water tanks for about 5 years. I have always wanted a saltwater so here is my first try. My tank has been set up for about 6 months now.

29 Gallon Tank, 130 Current USA Light, Koralia 1 Power Head by Hydor, right now i just have a canister filter, 10 Pounds of FIJI Fanch Branch Live Rock & 26 Pounds of base rock. Working on saving up for a skimmer.

1st Week, Feb 16th.

June 17th, added some coral zoas and some frilly mushrooms. I know in the pic of the mushrooms they have flatworms on them but i have taken care of them.

Went by a new LFS that had some great corals! Also really good deals compared to the shop close to me. Got some green star polops, some kind of leather what kind?, Ricordia what color do i call this? Only cost $30 for all 3 corals.

July 22nd.

Looks like things are coming together. :)

Leather looks just like any other "common" leather, as well with the Ric's. Nothing special, color or specimen wise.

Great job.

Good start!

Nice looking rockwork, and I like your purple firefish. (I have one too)

Looks like you gave everything a while to cycle in the beginning, which is great.

I'd watch that crab though..

The less the amount covered in coraline - the longer.

To me - I don't see a single piece covered in coraline. I'd say 6-8 months.

Looks great :)

I do see some corralline on the rocks with the mushroom and leather. But if you want it to take off then make sure your calcium alk and magnesium are where they should be and when you visit your lfs or a friend ask them to scrape some of the coralline off the back of their tank. Bring it home and crush/grind it and put it in front of a powerhead so it will get blown around real good. Add some straight to the rocks as well. That will help seed it nicely.

suprised no one noticed it but im pretty sure i saw flat worms on your rhodactis mushrooms way back in some of the first pictures(picture 9). Ive got the same zoas as the ones 7 pictures up, Should see the difference between the two when you put a 400w mh at 20k.

nice first tank. I came across this looking at the 29 builds as i had made the 65 tall thread years ago and figured why not start a 29.
