My parents bought this guy from a petco about ten days ago. It was listed as a Condy and had the hefty price tag of $6.99.
It wasn't in the best shape when they got it, it's mouth was about the size of a quarter when they got it home, two days later it's mouth shrunk to the size of a dime, and now it seems to be completely closed. No deflating so far. here are a couple of pics. It just started hosting their clown pair but no pics of that yet, I will post some more when they send them to me.http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/ab155/brich1027/P1080725.jpg http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/ab155/brich1027/P1080733.jpg

that's definitely not a condy. It does look like a pretty healthy Magnifica though.

The tentacles don't look like LTA to me. I agree it's definitely not a condy, though.

Im pretty sure someone will back me up on this look at the verracruce.

The tentacles don't look right for a LTA. It looks like the tips of the tentacles are a different color than the rest of the tentacle also.

Either way... Nice find for $7. I'll have to start going to the chain stores for misidentified animals.

I'm going to agree that it is probably a LTA as well, Macrodactyla dooreensis. I say this in addition to the verrucae that the bottom base still has a faint hint of redness in which is a sure sign for a LTA. Also, considering how bleached it is I don't think a H. magnifica would have survive being in that condition long.

What kind of lighting is the anemone under? Is it still attached to the glass like that? Has it been in the sand at all?

Looks like M. doreensis, but not in great shape right now. Ordinarily they are buried in the sand and darker in color. Provide it with good light, good water quality, fine sand and hopefully it will rebound.

That is, without a doubt, M. doreensis. I agree with Garygb on the sand. The anemone will have a very hard time healing until it can plant it's foot in the sand and stay in one place.

That makes sense, now that I have looked at some pics of M. Doreensis that is probably what it is. I will have them put it on the sand and see if that helps. Thanks!

HI, this is Brich1027's parents, when we first got the anemone, we did put it in the sad, and it ended up floating around inside at the bottom of the tank. It doesn't seem to like staying anywhere! We tried putting it on the rock up closer to the light, it stayed for a while on the rock, but not for long. Thinking that it was H. Magnifica, we tried putting it on the glass since we heard that they like smooth rocks. Now it is on the smooth side of an abalone shell, and it is not very sticky. Right now we are moving it into the sand, we will see how well it does there. For a time his foot was oozing, but now it doesn't seem like it is.

Also the clowns never did host it, but they thought about it... for a while they were hovering over it.

Edit for pictures- This is his mouth right now
