mag 5 return pump locks up when power is off

Hey guys,
I have been having a problem here lately with the mag pump seizing up whenever power is off on the system i.e. water changes, feeding etc... when I power the system back up the impeller freezes. If I take off the front assembly off and put it back it works again. I have checked the impeller and the magnet and no visual problems. Has anyone else seen this?

but a new impeller, will fix problem


get one online, not too bad price wise.

disassemble the pump. Likely problem is calcium buildup inside the area where the impeller rotates. this buid up will lead to impeller failure.
