I am trying to change out my DI (something I have done many times) and the housing is stuck, I can get it to budge. I am using the wrench. I am in phoenix, and the unit is in the garage so maybe temp has something to do with it.

Any ideas on how to open it?

Turn off the watr supply to the system, and then open an outlet valve, like whatever valve you have on the outlet of the DI tube - this will de-pressurize the system and the housing should come off. Remember - lefty loosey, righty tighty!

i have the unit completely disconnected from the water supply, there is no pressure. I brought it inside in case the heat caused any expansion, still will not budge.

Hmm. Are you sure you are turning it in the correct direction (pushing the wrench too the left while facing the front of the unit)?

I don't have any other tricks for you. Maybe you could try running the threaded portion of the housing under hot water while trying to turn it.

After you get it off, make sure you lube the oring with silicone grease (we have the kind you need on the website). When you retighten it, go hand tight, and old a bit (1/4 turn) more with the wrench - only if needed.

got it off- used a screwdriver in the port to twist one way while using the wrench in the other direction.

"screwdriver in the port" scars me a bit - check to make sure you didn't ruin the fitting...

i took the fitting out and wrapped the screwdriver w/ a rag to protect the threads. its working fine now
