Serpent star in overflow

Help! My serpent star got through the holes and is now living inside my in-tank overflow. Every once in a while he'll stick I leg or two out into the tank. Has anyone else had a star do this? If so, is there any dance for them in there or should I just let him be?

If you pull the riser tube, you can flush it down to the sump, or reach in and grab it.
